    What Is a Metal Furring Channel?

    A metal furring channel is a light-gauge cold-formed steel section that creates a level, ventilated fixing plane in front of a wall, ceiling or structural slab. Standard sizes are 16 mm resilient channel, 28 mm hat channel and 38 mm hat channel, plus U-shaped profiles for partition framing. Fixing plasterboard or fibre-cement board to a metal furring channel decouples the board from the substrate, which lifts the acoustic rating of the assembly, conceals services, and leaves a drainage and insulation cavity behind cladding.

    How the Cold Roll Forming Machine Works

    The cold roll forming machine shapes strip at room temperature through a sequence of contoured roll pairs. No heat is applied, so the zinc coating stays intact and the yield strength of the steel is preserved. The line runs: hydraulic decoiler (3–5 t) → strip levelling and feeding → servo pre-punching and notching(if necessary) → 10 forming stations → straightening head → hydraulic tracking cut → run-out table with automatic stacker. Every station bends the strip a few degrees further until the hat or resilient profile is closed, then the flying shear cuts to length without stopping the line.
